Did he not care at all?

MY BF of one month broke up with me on Monday to go back with his ex. We had been platonic (non-intimate) friends for three years prior. He stated he wanted to remain friends I didnt agree or disagree at the time. He text me Tuesday with some random statement like we didnt just end the relationship the day prior and we picked up with where our friendship ended. I emailed him and stated I needed to step away from the friendship for awhile and complemented him on a number of things. He never responded at all. His lack of a response says to me that he never really cared about me (as a friend or GF) and that I was just his rebound. Am I overthinking this or could it be true? We were like best friends b4 we hooked up as gf/bf
