If Bonds used steroids in 2000, why won't his records be taken away by MLB?

If Marion Jones was forced to give up her Olympic medals for doping, why wouldn't Bonds be forced to give up every home run he hit since his failed November 2000 drug test? Everything he hit after that date was tainted so why should he be allowed to keep his records and taint baseball forever? Why should a cheater be allowed to keep his records? We know Bonds doesn't care about public opinion and probably won't mind a little jail time, but if you take away his records, he WILL CARE and it is the only real way to punish him. Why won't MLB do this?
